The Bright Vision Approach

Respite care is a short-term, caring support system for family caregivers. At Bright Vision, we know that caring for a loved one is a journey of love, but it can also be demanding. Respite care provides you with the break you need to attend appointments, go on vacation, or simply rest, knowing your loved one is in safe, professional, and kind hands. In Minnesota, respite can be provided in your home (in-home) or in a community setting (out-of-home). Our goal is to maintain your loved one’s routine and comfort while providing them with meaningful companionship and high-quality support in your absence.

Every plan for this service is personally reviewed and guided by a Registered Nurse.

Eligibility

Who Qualifies for
This Support?

In Minnesota, eligibility is often determined through a combination of your health needs and program-specific criteria.

  • Available for primary caregivers who need a temporary break.
  • The person receiving care must be eligible for a Minnesota waiver (EW, AC, CADI, BI, etc.).
  • Private-pay options are available for families not enrolled in a waiver program.
  • Eligibility is based on the needs of both the caregiver and the person receiving care.

Limitations & Boundaries

To provide the safest care, it’s important to understand the professional boundaries of this service:

Respite is intended for short-term relief, not as a permanent daily care solution.
The primary caregiver must be an unpaid family member or friend (for waiver funding).
Specific limits on the number of respite hours allowed per year may apply depending on the waiver.
Out-of-home respite must be provided in a licensed setting.
